A second portrait of cavalry captain Jean Etienne Vertholen (see also the earlier photograph from 1867), here at a later age with more decorations. Produced by Ch. Binger & Co, Haarlem.
Charles (Ch.) Binger (Amsterdam 1830 – 1916) ran the Haarlem portrait studio Binger & Co on the Zijlstraat from 1862, as successor to ‘Munnich & Ermerins’. The studio existed under various names (Binger & Co, Binger & Chits) until 1891 (source: RKD).
