    Joannes Josephus Ignatius Harte van Tecklenburg (Utrecht, 15 October 1853 – The Hague, 4 July 1937), photographed in 1881 at the studio of Albert Lüssow in Utrecht, where he posed in costume ‘as the Lord of Hauteville’. He was an ambitious Catholic politician, initially belonging to the conservative wing, later a follower of Schaepman; a member of the House of Representatives for the district of Grave and the Catholics’ financial specialist. As Minister of Finance in the Kuyper cabinet he achieved little legislation and came too late with his proposal for a protectionist Tariff Act. By Royal Decree of 28 December 1894 he was permitted to add ‘Van Tecklenburg’ to his surname — before that he was simply called Jan Harte. (See also the family portrait of his parents elsewhere in this collection.) This portrait shows him seated.

    Wilhelmus Petrus Adrianus Mutsaers (Tilburg, 3 August 1833 – Tilburg, 12 February 1907) was a son of manufacturer Bernardus Jacobus Mutsaers and Elisabeth Boex — and thus a brother of Antonius Johannes Franciscus Mutsaers (see his portrait in this collection). By trade he was a manufacturer of woollen fabrics. In 1868, aged 35, he was elected member of the Provincial States for the city of Tilburg. From 1874 to 1901 he served on the Provincial Executive, and from 1889 to 1905 he was a member of the House of Representatives, successively for the districts of Eindhoven and Waalwijk. By Royal Decree of 3 December 1901 he was appointed mayor of Tilburg and installed on 23 December of that year, aged 69. This portrait (studio J. Maes, Brussels) dates from around 1860–1865.

    Bernardus Jacobus Mutsaers (Tilburg, 16 July 1795 – Tilburg, 20 August 1872) was a wine merchant and member of the Provincial States of North Brabant from 1843 to 1867. He was co-founder and regent of the Sint Elisabethgasthuis (1827), council member and president of the society Philharmonie, Knight in the Order of the Netherlands Lion and Commander in the Order of the Oak Crown. He married in 1826 in Eindhoven to Elisabeth Boex (Eindhoven, 1799–1835) and, in a second marriage, to Catharina van Roessel (Tilburg, 1808–1848).
